FRED KEENOR NEEDS YOUR HELP!

The Fred Keenor Statue Committee will next month (April) launch its campaign to raise funds to erect a statue to honour Cardiff City’s legendary FA Cup winning captain.

We’ve already had significant support from Cardiff Council, which has pledged £15,000, and £1,000 has also been promised by the Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust  board.

We need to raise around £85,000 to make the dream of honouring Fred and the rest of the famous 1927 winning team a reality.

A statue design by sculptor Roger Andrews was chosen following a public vote and the committee will be holding discussions with the club shortly over a location for the statue.

The committee, set up by the Trust, has been working away contacting organisations and businesses and that will continue.

But we are now calling on the superb fans of Cardiff City to play their part in this hugely worthwhile campaign. Fred has never been properly recognised by the city of Cardiff and we aim to put that right.

We will need help when fundraising kicks off in earnest so could anyone willing to assist in the months to come please send their details, including contact information, to fundraising@ccfctrust.org Please mark your email for the attention of David Craig.

Also, if you’ve got any bright ideas for raising funds we’d also like to hear from you, and you don’t have to be a member of the Trust. We want as many supporters as possible involved to ensure it is a success.
