Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust is delighted to announce that it will be supporting the charity Rookwood Sound during the current season 2016-17.
Rookwood Sound broadcasts radio programmes to patients, visitors and staff at Rookwood Hospital in Llandaff and at Llandough Hospital. Founded in 1987, and run entirely by volunteers, it has won National Hospital Radio awards and regularly broadcasts live coverage of Cardiff City matches.
We asked our members to let us know which charities we should support this season and Rookwood Sound was chosen by the Trust board. The Trust has a proud record in supporting charities, most notably Ty Hafan, the children’s hospice. Members will recall the more than £10,000 raised for this wonderful charity, principally from the sale of the Trust alternative match shirt produced when the club was playing in red at home.
Trust board member David Collins, who was interviewed on Rookwood Sound after the Leeds United game about the Trust’s work, said: “We wanted to do what we could to help a local charity, given that national charities can obtain funding from other sources. We were particularly impressed by Rookwood Sound’s invaluable coverage of Cardiff City games for patients, staff and visitors to Rookwood and Llandough.
“We’d like to invite members and non-members to show their support for Rookwood Sound and submit any ideas they may have for fundraising to us at the Trust’s stadium office between Gates 4 and 5. We’re normally open 90 minutes before kick-off times.”
